This unique refuge situated in the heart of the “Hunsrück” portrays a modern design, even though the monastery is present at every angle – “the Abbot must be felt physically” – this was the basis for the entire design of the hotel. Even though the modernization has been extensive, the expectations guests have in a monastery must always be met – a split only made possible by a very selective use of materials and extremely sensitive planning of the geometry of the buildings.
However, the decisive attitude towards the dense monastery atmosphere was the clearly detailed planning of the light, setting highlights through lights and shadows.
